I am committed to fostering a welcoming environment in my classroom, in my department, with my colleagues and peers, and in the community. As part of this commitment, I have:
- participated in faculty learning communities devoted to diversity
- attended NCORE with a team of other social justice champions
- served on committees such as WMU’s Excellence in Diversity Awards
- served on a committee to address bullying on campus
- involved my students in sponsored extracurricular activities on diversity and inclusion
Also, though the University’s strategic plan is undergoing transformation, while the plan included tactical action communities, I served on the CCDEI.
CAMPUS CLIMATE FOR DIVERSITY, EQUITY, AND INCLUSION TACTICAL ACTION COMMUNITY (CCDEI TAC)
To implement the recommendations of the 2012-13 Campus Climate Study, assuring integration and alignment with the Diversity and Multiculturalism Action Plan (DMAP), the University Strategic Plan, and to promote University-wide transformational change in regard to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Campus-wide Equity and Civility Initiative Project Action Team (CECI PAT)
This PAT seeks to promote and ensure an environment that is equitable and civil for all members of the University community.

Center for Faith, Beliefs, and Ethics Project Action Team
This PAT seeks to reorganize the Office of Faith and Spiritual Development into the Center for Faith, Beliefs and Ethics. The primary goal of the center is to cultivate an attitude among groups and individuals of various beliefs that worldviews and beliefs, religious and non-religious, can be creative and constructive rather than divisive and destructive forces within cultures.
